Important Information for Patients

RGKMCH is a high-volume government hospital that sees thousands of patients daily. Arriving early is the single most important thing a patient can do to avoid missing their slot. Even with an online OPD ticket booked in advance, patients must report to the relevant department on time, as late arrivals may lose their slot if the consultant has moved on.

Carry your online appointment slip, either printed or on your mobile screen, along with a valid government-issued photo ID such as Aadhaar, voter ID, or ration card. For follow-up visits, carry all previous prescriptions, investigation reports, discharge summaries, and imaging reports. A brief written summary of your condition and prior treatment is helpful for departments that see very high patient volumes.

OPD is free of charge at RGKMCH. Patients pay Rs 2 for the offline registration counter ticket and nothing for online booking. Investigation charges for blood tests, imaging, and procedures are nominal at this government hospital compared to private facilities.

The hospital is well connected by Kolkata Metro (Shyambazar station on the North-South line is the closest, about 1 kilometre away), and multiple bus routes pass through the Belgachia area. Auto-rickshaws and app-based cabs are available from Shyambazar and Belgachia metro stations.

Doctor schedules at government teaching hospitals like RGKMCH are subject to change without notice due to academic duties, administrative assignments, and on-call responsibilities. Always verify your consultant's availability by checking the live schedule on the official website at rgkarmch.in before traveling from outside Kolkata. For schedule queries, contact the hospital directly through the main number listed on the official website.

The West Bengal Health Swasthya Sathi card is accepted at RGKMCH. Patients covered under Swasthya Sathi should carry their card and related documents for cashless treatment.
